Fatal Accident Closes I-70 For Hours

[dateline] -- Interstate 70 is back open this morning after a fatal overnight crash, NBC 4 reported.

The crash happened at about 10 last night at I-70 and I-270 on the city’s west side and involved one vehicle.

According to reports, the vehicle collided head-on into a concrete divider wall that separates eastbound and westbound I-70.

Marsha Couri, 44, was cut from the car and transported to Mount Carmel West. Couri died at the hospital.

The eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed for almost three hours while police investigated the accident, and the crash remains under investigation today.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor of this crash, according to police reports.
