Boy, 4, Shot During Apparent Drive-By
MARION, Ohio -- A 4-year-old boy was shot in the back of the head early Thursday during a drive-by shooting in Marion.
The shooting occurred in the 300 block of Patton Street at about 2:30 a.m., NBC 4's Mike Bowersock reported.
The boy, Ricky Glover, was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital by MedFlight in critical condition
"The bullet was lodged in his head. There's a lot of swelling and it's not safe for them to remove it, so they're going to do a six-hour wait to see if the swelling goes down to take it out," said Lisa Moore, the victim's relative.
The incident was the fifth shooting in the city since Dec. 30 -- which includes the shooting of a relative of the victim. Officials said that most -- if not all of the shootings may be related.
Marion police said they believe there is an ongoing feud involving the victim's family, and area residents said they are seriously considering moving from the neighborhood.
City police and the county sheriff's department said they will meet to discuss the shootings, which are believed to be related to drug trafficking coming into the area from Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago.
