Man Reportedly Puts Out Flames, Fire Reignites
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus Firefighters are cleaning up the remains of a charred home on Clarendon Avenue this morning.
A fire broke out a little after midnight on the city’s west side, and the homeowner told NBC 4 he put out the fire himself. A much larger, second fire broke out a little after 2 a.m.
The home is completely destroyed, according to fire crews, and investigators are trying to determine a cause.
Another fire happened on the south side just before 11 p.m. at an apartment building on Barthman Avenue.
The fire appears to have started on the second floor of the building, and it's possible that the building was vacant when the fire began, NBC 4 reported.
