Roaring Flames Catch Two Homes On Fire

[dateline] -- A home went up in flames a little after 6 a.m. this morning, catching the next-door residence on fire, too.

Officials are working to figure out what started this east-side fire on the corner of North Monroe Avenue and Atcheson Street, NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich reported.

Crews are cleaning up the mess this morning after a first home was so fire- and smoke-filled that it caused the flames to move to the home beside it.

Both residences were vacant, firefighters said.

And because both homes were unoccupied, investigators will look at suspicious causes for the roaring flames, Diedrich reported.

Investigators were arriving on the scene at 8 a.m.

NBC 4 will have more on the cause of this two-building fire after investigations take place.
