COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A murder investigation evolved into something else as the truth slowly unraveled Thursday morning, NBC 4’s Mike Bowersock said.
When police arrived at 455 E. 18th Ave., on the far east side of campus, they knew one person was dead, another was injured and little else.
It appeared that the dead male was a victim of a robbery, but as the morning passed, it was determined that just the opposite was true.
In fact, it may have been a case of self-defense.
“Investigations have revealed that the deceased person in this apartment was a robbery suspect who came in to rob this homeowner,” Columbus Police Sergeant Dana Norman said.
A man who was shot in the leg and another man, who was taken to police headquarters for questioning, are the victims, Bowersock reported.
There are possibly one to two more suspects as well, according to Norman, and police have no description currently.
More than a dozen bullets may have been fired in this shootout between a robber, or robbers, and their victims, Bowersock reported.
