[dateline] -- Ohio is one of the top ten states in the nation for foreclosure.
In October, there were more than 12,000 foreclosure filings, sending more people out of their homes and into apartments.
So, before you decide to put down your bags, we have an important list you need to see.
NBC 4's Mikaela Hunt is getting answers to make sure the apartment your moving into isn't in trouble with the government.
Broken windows, doors that don't lock -- you'll find these problems at some apartments throughout Columbus.
This is the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority's list that notes the landlords who are not in compliance with their standards.
Jonathan Watson lives at one complex on the list -- Parliament Ridge.
"Sometimes they might just patch stuff up and not do the job all the way, like they should. But it's nothing that would make me want to move out or anything," Watson said.
Still, CMHA says after six violations in a 12-month period, the companies on this list are considered not fit for their section 8 clients.
They won't let them move in and hold the rent of those already placed there.
The list does not detail the violations at the properties named.
The landlords can be suspended from the program for a year.
NBC 4 called Parliament Ridge several times to find out if they're fixing the problems that CMHA cited.
But we were told the manager was busy.
So, we showed up Thursday to let them know we wanted answers.
The complex won't explain why it's on the list, but says it continues to take care of section 8 clients still living there.
NBC 4 also contacted the Woods at Northland, also on the list.
The owner says the violations are from the previous ownership and include broken windows and problems at an individual unit that will be fixed by Dec. 1.
