DENVER -- An Ohio truck driver has been arrested and jailed after the semitrailer he was driving collided with a slow-moving train and killed a railroad employee in Colorado.

The Colorado State Patrol says 33-year-old Ernest J. "Jerry" Rivera of Thornton was killed when the westbound truck struck the northbound train as it was backing up at about 7 p.m. Wednesday in Adams County, northeast of Denver.

Rivera was on the rear of the last rail car at the time of impact. Rivera, who was working on the Denver Rock Island Railroad, died at the scene.

The truck driver, 47-year-old Wendell T. Cox of Bedford Heights, Ohio, was treated at a Thornton hospital.

He was later arrested and taken to the Adams County jail on suspicion of careless driving causing death.
