Property Tax Bills Arrive Later Than Usual
COLUMBUS, Ohio—Franklin County residents will receive their property tax bills soon, but it’s later than usual.
NBC 4’s Mike Bowersock reported with the FAST FACTS Friday.
Franklin County property taxes, which generally are sent out earlier so residents can have them before Christmas, were sent out Wednesday.
The reason they’re being sent out late had to do with local elections and school districts.
County Auditor Joe Testa said the tax bills were ready to go out in November but they had to wait on certifications from Delaware and Licking counties.
The reason they had to wait had to do with school districts in adjoining counties.
For example, Westerville City and Dublin City schools are in both Franklin and Delaware counties, and the value of each district must be agreed upon by all counties where the district is located.
It had nothing to do with the 15th Congressional District race.
Even though the bills are going out later than expected, they are not expected to be considered late. By law, they don’t have to go out until January 31st.
