Thanks to technology and the kindness of others, a dog separated by time and thousands of miles will soon be reunited with his family.

Brindle was found last week, ill and alone near some railroad tracks in Lawton, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma family that found Brindle took him to their vet who found a microchip and discovered that Brindle had wandered away from his northern Virginia home 10 years ago.

Once they had a name, the family searched Facebook and found Brindle’s owner thousands of miles away still living in Virginia.

If the vet clears him to travel, a volunteer will drive from Virginia to Oklahoma to pick up Brindle and take him to his former owner.
