1 Dies After Pickup Plunges Into River
Published: September 16, 2009
WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio—Authorities say the body of a man was recovered from inside a pickup truck that plunged into the Great Miami River in western Ohio.
West Carrollton Fire Chief Jack Keister said Wednesday that firefighters had been looking for the man, who was among three men in the truck when it rolled off the road and into the river. The other two occupants of the truck escaped and made it to shore.
A woman who identified herself as the mother of one of the surviving men says the three often drove a four-wheel-drive truck recreationally near the area where the crash occurred.
The woman says her son told her they hit a dip in the road and lost control of the vehicle. It went over the embankment in an area that does not have a guardrail.
