2 Die, 10 Injured In Chain Of High-Speed Crashes
Published: August 10, 2009
DAYTON, Ohio—Police say two people were killed and 10 were injured in a chain of high-speed car crashes in Dayton.
Police say the events began Sunday afternoon when vehicles collided at an intersection on the city’s north side. Two of the cars involved continued another five blocks at speeds that witnesses estimated were between 60 and 100 miles per hour, and other vehicles were hit along the way.
Police and witnesses say that at one point, one of the two speeding cars caught fire. Both then slammed into vehicles in or near another intersection and finally came to a stop.
Thirteen vehicles were damaged or totaled. Police still trying to sort out what happened say the destruction was some of the worst they’ve ever seen on Dayton streets.
