CANTON, Ohio—A house fire in Canton that quickly spread to two other homes injured nine firefighters called to fight the large blaze.
Several firefighters fell through a floor in the house where the fire started and others were shocked by electrical wires that hit aluminum gutter spouts near their ladders.
Acting Battalion chief Chuck Goldy of the Canton Fire Department says six firefighters had to be taken to the hospital but none was believed to have serious injuries.
About 30 city firefighters responded to the fire about 1:30 p.m. Thursday and found flames already bursting out of the house’s windows.
The spreading fire resulted in the evacuation of three residents from adjoining houses and two dogs.
Firefighters needed more than three hours to bring the blaze under control.
