DAYTON, Ohio - The attorney for a man accused of killing a woman in her Dayton-area home and leaving her 4-year-old son at a highway rest stop says it’s premature to pass judgment on his client.
Dennis Lieberman, who represents 22-year-old Charlie Myers of Columbus, said Friday he intends to explore the issues thoroughly. He declined further comment.
Prosecutors say Myers shot and killed the 29-year-old woman Jan. 2 and had sexual contact with the boy. They intend to seek the death penalty.
The Associated Press is not naming the family so as not to identify the victim of an alleged sexual offense.
As a child, Myers lived in homeless shelters with his father, was shuttled between foster homes and struggled with a hearing impairment that wasn’t addressed until he was 6 years old.
