CLEVELAND—The grandmother of an 8-year-old boy shot by his older brother while the two were playing “gangster” says the child is recovering and feeling better.
Anthony Hicks is being treated at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for a gunshot wound to his upper chest.
Police say the boys were playing with a gun they found in their grandmother’s car.
Joan Hicks says Anthony’s school principal delivered a bundle of get-well cards from classmates to the hospital.
Anthony’s 11-year-old brother, Bishop Hicks, is being held at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.
Cleveland police say Bishop faces a felonious assault charge and the grandmother will be charged with failure to secure a deadly weapon.
