Kings Island Continues Coaster Shutdown

MASON, Ohio —It’s been nothing but ups and downs for Kings Island’s Son of Beast roller coaster, which remains closed nearly six weeks after the latest injury linked to the ride.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that state inspectors have probed injuries from the ride six times in the nine seasons it’s been open, more than any other ride in Ohio during that time.

Son of Beast has been closed for safety tests since a woman said a rough ride on the wooden coaster caused a blood vessel in her brain to burst in late May.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Amusement Ride Safety Division is responsible for inspections. A spokeswoman says the agency expects to complete its work next week.

sounds to me like this woman had a medical condition prior to her riding the coaster and maybe she shouldn’t have even been on rides in the first place.
