There is a lot of clear information out here on how to prevent spread of Salmonella infection. Handwashing is the easiest to implement. The one suggestion that is not clear is when we are told that thoroughly cooking a food will kill the germ. Will microwave re-heating of foods kill it? What is meant by ‘thoroughly’ cooking? What temperature? For how long?
If cooking the food item will kill the germ, then it seems so very wastefull to throw out tons and tons of food. Could the peanutbutter crackers be re-baked to make them safe? Now, icecream would be a problem…
