Prostitute: ‘Dissatisfied’ Man Demands Refund

RICHMOND, Va.—Richmond police say a man who engaged the services of a prostitute resorted to force to get his money back because he was dissatisfied.

Harold B. Mason Jr., 31, of the 6900 block of Marlowe Road was charged yesterday with grand larceny.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of McDonough Street in South Richmond shortly before 2 a.m. to investigate what was originally reported as a robbery.

According to police, a woman who is a known prostitute told officers that a man had paid her for sex but complained afterward that she did not satisfy him.

The man demanded a refund, and when she refused, an argument escalated to where the man forcibly grabbed her purse to retrieve his money, police said.

The prostitute was shaken but uninjured, police said.

Because she was considered a crime victim, the prostitute was not charged.

A preliminary hearing for Mason has been scheduled for Oct. 22 in Richmond General District Court.

If you called the cops because somebody stole your drugs, would you be considered a “victim” and not be charged? NO. Why is this different.

Here is a thought for you?

If you have sex with a prostitute against her will is it rape or shop lifting?

I’ll never understand two things.  A.  While I don’t believe in prostitution for myself, I don’t object to someone’s right to do it.  No matter my opinion, it’s still their body and their money; let them do what they want with it and B.  Why pay for sex?  I know, I know, I know: It’s hard out there, but… I’ve met so many males and females that are pretty generous in the loving department that there’s no reason why anyone would have to pay for it.  I’ve never been a “loose” woman, so to speak, but I know not all people are as selective as I am.  I mean, if these folks got online, they would find someone willing to give it up for the cost of a bottle of wine, or heck, a bottle of water at the local coffee house!  Ach!  Gotta love people!

Laws are selectively enforced all the time.  Police don’t know all the laws to begin with, and second of all, make judgment calls all the time.  Do you take the 5 -7 mph over the speed limit that the police give?  Have you ever been pulled over and issued a warning?  Did you ask the officer to change your warning to a citation because you didn’t want them to be selective?  Have you ever urged a police officer to cite a jaywalker?

The simple fact is that we have a limited amount of law enforcement resources, and we need to use them wisely.  Even in the most controlled environment possible, prison, drugs and all sorts of other crimes happen frequently.  We need to use our resources as wisely as possible, this would mean focusing LEO’s time on violent crimes: murder, rape, domestic abuse, etc, and allow non-violent crimes like drug use, prostitution, and gambling should be taxed and regulated, with some of the taxes going to help overall small percentage of people who take things to an extreme, that way those who use/abuse can pay for their own problems, rather than all of society covering the cost.

teepee - With your attitude I doubt that you would make it through jury selection. As a juror your not supposed to vote whether or not to convict on how you “feel” the law should be and whether you agree with the law or not. Your job as a juror is to vote whether the person is guilty or not based on the law that is in place.

And for you not to wear your seatbelt just because it is the law even though you know it could save your life is just ignorant. It’s against the law to play in traffic too, but are you going to do it just to prove a point that you can do whatever you want?

I agree that the prostitute and the dissatisfied customer have a right to make their own decisions on how to lead their own lives, but don’t bother law enforcement when your illegal activity doesn’t go the way you want it to. You can’t have it both ways.
