WARREN, Ohio—It’s not something police see every day.

A detective in Warren was interviewing a woman when a squirrel popped out of her shirt.

It’s not unusual to find squirrels doing what they like to do best in Perkins Park in the summer.

During his years as a detective in Warren, Wayne Mackey has run into quite a few squirrely situations, but none of that prepared him for what happened a few weeks ago when he was interviewing this witness on a recent murder case.

“No, I was not prepared to see a woodland creature in the interview room,” Mackey said.

That’s exactly what happened, though.

The woman was in the Warren city police interview room answering questions for several minutes.

During one point in the conversation, she bends over, and oops, out comes what Mackey said was a baby squirrel.

It was enough to make a squirrel blush, but the woman did not seem to be phased. She put the small creature back inside her shirt and continued talking to the detective.

When this happened, Mackey he pretty much was at a loss for words.

“Ah, nothing. I kept right on talking to her and listening to her. I didn’t acknowledge it at all. I really didn’t know what to say,” Mackey said.

Mackey said he was not sure if the squirrel is the woman’s pet and said he has no idea why she even decided to bring it in with her to during the interview.

The woman and her squirrel were not expected to be called to testify during the trial.

I recall a story about a wildlife group where one woman had a bra she wore for incubating rescued baby critters that were much too young and weak to survive alone.  It worked the best of anything; she could release the baby back into the wild, healthy.  However, nothing explains that tank top…or that ridiculous camera angle.

“It was enough to make a squirrel blush, but the woman did not seem to be phased.“

Yet another example of the deterioration of grammar in our media: the word is “fazed,“ not “phased!“

From the looks of that lady I’d be afraid what else she has hidden in there.

I’m suprised only the squirrel fell out! I am not a small lady myself, I would never wear anything like that!  The girls are falling out there.  She needs a visit from Stacey from what not to wear!
