ATHENS, Ohio—A missing Ohio teenager has been found in South Carolina, and a registered sex offender who was with him is facing charges.
Federal authorities said 15-year-old Lucas Kemmerle was found in Beaufort, S.C., Thursday, ending a two-week hunt for the Athens high-school sophomore.
Twenty-two-year-old Zachary Wisor of Nelsonville was arrested by U.S. Marshals. Wisor is a registered sex offender in Ohio and faces charges under the Adam Walsh Act, which makes it a federal offense to live unregistered in another state. Authorities say the teenager accompanied Wisor to South Carolina.
Wisor faces up to 10 years in prison on the federal charges, as well as numerous local and state charges. Authorities plan to extradite him to Athens.
