COLUMBUS, Ohio—A water-main break on the city’s South Side closed a main road and an elementary school.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Tuesday.

The water-main break was on Frank Road.

Eastbound lanes of Frank Road were closed at Harrisburg Pike or U.S. Route 62.

The lanes reopened to traffic close to 8 a.m.

Harmon Elementary, a part of South-Western City Schools, also was closed Tuesday thanks to the break. The school doesn’t have any water.

The Franklin County sheriff’s office said it received the first call regarding the break at about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.

NBC 4 Photojournalist Joe Clark was on the scene and said water was shooting 30-plus feet into the air.

The break was shut off at about 6:27 a.m., but it still was a dangerous area because of the cold temperatures and ice.

Clark said there is ice on the power lines and Frank Road.

NBC 4’s Monica Day said Bid Run Road or Hopkins Avenue were your alternates.
