Cabot Rea is co-anchor of NBC 4 at 5 p.m. Colleen Marshall and Ellie Merritt and NBC 4 at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. with Colleen Marshall.
Cabot joined NBC 4 in 1985 as a weekend sports anchor and features reporter.
Cabot has also served as co-anchor of NBC 4 at 6 with Gail Hogan, co-anchor of NBC 4 at 7 with Colleen Marshall, co-anchor of The 10 O'Clock News airing on WB 53 (WWHO) and field anchor of Live at 5:30.
In 2009, he was voted favorite male anchor by readers of Columbus Monthly, making him their favorite anchor every year since 2005.
The most memorable stories for Cabot include ones that he has personally covered such as his one-on-one one interview with Jay Leno weeks before Jay's primetime premiere and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.
Prior to NBC 4, Cabot was employed as a music teacher for Newark City Schools as well as a professional singer and actor. Cabot started his broadcast career by working as a radio announcer while attending college.
Cabot graduated from Otterbein College in 1978 with a degree in music education. He also received a Master's degree in Voice Performance from The Ohio State University in Fall 2003.
Cabot said that if he were not in the television industry, he would be directing music or theater at a college, or perhaps singing operetta or musical theater.
He has performed in shows at the Palace, Southern and Capitol theaters the last few years. In January 2005, he was a baritone soloist Mozart Requiem with the Springfield Symphony.
Among the charities he supports on a regular basis are Children's Hospital, A Special Wish Foundation and the Huntington Disease Foundation.
Cabot is perhaps most proud of twice being named "Teacher of the Year" at Newark Junior High School. Cabot also received an Emmy Award for Camp Reams as a feature news story. He was presented The Westerville Sertoma Service to Humanity Award for 2002.
Cabot resides in Westerville, Ohio, with his wife, Heather, and they have three children.
Cabot volunteers his time for Concord Counseling (teen suicide prevention) and serves on the Otterbein Friends of Music Board of Directors.
