Tom Brockman joined the NBC 4 staff as a reporter in August 2007.

Tom, a native of Canton, Ohio, came to WCMH-TV after working at WNCT-TV in Greenville, N.C. from 2005 to 2007. He also worked as an intern with Newsradio WHBC in Canton and WEWS-TV in Cleveland in 2004.

Tom received a Bachelor of Arts degree in media studies from Mount Union College. He graduated Cum Laude with a minor in political science.

He was honored with the "Rookie of the Year" award from the North Carolina Associated Press for 2005. He was also awarded the Best Enterprise Investigative Piece by the Associated Press in 2005.

Tom said the most memorable event he covered was when he was sent to Jackson, Miss. the week after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. He continued, saying the most memorable stories he covered ranged from the cleanup, how families dealt with power outage and the long lines at gas pumps.

He enjoys spending time at his Hilliard home with his wife, Jessica, their daughter, Mackenzie, and their two pets.

Tom said he would be a teacher if he weren't working in the media.

He said his first job was working as a telephone repair/lineman.
