Jerod Smalley - Sports Anchor & Reporter
Email: jsmalley@wcmh.com
Jerod Smalley will tell you he's a busy guy. Jerod has served as Sports Director for NBC 4 since 2006.
He was named Best Sports Broadcaster by the Associated Press the past 3 years (2007-2009). He and the NBC 4 Sports team also received awards for Best Sports Operation and Best Regularly Scheduled Sports in 2007 and 2008.
He says the best part of his job is covering the excitement and passion of Buckeye football in the Horseshoe during the fall. But football is not his favorite sport.
Smalley was a track and field athlete at Marshall University, where he graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2001.
But Jerod's duties at NBC 4 extend well beyond sports. Smalley has become a local advocate and public speaker for autism awareness.
Jerod's sons, Brady and Tyler, are diagnosed with autism. Jerod began a campaign at the station to promote the growing problem of autism and to raise money for research and support.
He anchors NBC 4's exclusive series called "The Autism Puzzle," which features compelling local stories about children and adults living with the symptoms of autism and the resources available in Central Ohio for people on the autism spectrum.
