COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Columbus Blue Jackets activated center Nikita Filatov off injured reserve on Thursday and then assigned him to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.

The 18-year-old Filatov, the sixth pick in last summer’s draft, has four goals in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season.

He became the first Blue Jackets rookie to score a hat trick when he had three goals against Minnesota on Jan. 10 and also became only the fourth player in franchise history to score a goal in his NHL debut against Nashville on Oct. 17.

He has been sidelined with a lower-body injury.
