Youngstown State Downs Ill.-Chicago 68-60

CHICAGO—Tom Parks hit five 3-pointers to score 15 points and lead Youngstown State to a 68-60 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Saturday.

Youngstown State (8-15, 5-8 Horizon League) led 44-27 going into the break. The Penguins’ shooting fell off in the second period as Illinois-Chicago (10-13, 3-10 Horizon League) outscored them 33-24 after the break.

Josh Mayo led the Flames with 18 points, including three 3-pointers. Robo Kreps added 15 points and Scott Vandermeer had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Vytas Sulskis came off the bench to score 13 points for the Penguins while Sirlester Martin added ten points. Youngstown State earned 26 points from its bench players. The Penguins led by as many as 21 points. Illinois-Chicago saw a 1-point lead early in the first period.
