COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio State coach Jim Tressel says linebacker Tyler Moeller will miss the season.

The fourth-year junior from Cincinnati injured his head when it hit the floor during a family trip in Florida about two weeks ago. A hospital spokesman says Moeller was released Monday from the Ohio State University Medical Center.

Tressel says he hopes Moeller returns for the 2010 season.

Receiver Ray Small has been sitting out preseason camp due to academic issues, but his father says he’s due to rejoin the team any day.

Ken Small says his son submitted a paper that will get his grade changed for a history class for the summer quarter that ended July 24.

Ohio State is also holding open a roster spot for academically struggling defensive end Rob Rose.
