COLUMBUS, Ohio—He’s the baby of the Sullinger family, but he’s already surpassed his elder Sullingers in awards.
Northland junior Jared Sullinger was named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball by the Associated Press Wednesday.  He joins Lebron James, Jim Jackson, Greg Simpson and O.J. Mayo as the only juniors to ever win the award. Earlier in the week he was the named the state’s Division I Player of the Year.
Sullinger is the younger brother of former Buckeye guard JJ Sullinger, former Kent State guard Julian Sullinger and son of Northland head coach Satch Sullinger.  Jared averaged nearly 20 points per game and more than 14 rebounds per game for the Vikings this season, who were ranked #1 in the state nearly the entire season.
Northland will play Warren Harding in the D-I State Semifinals at the Schottenstein Center Friday evening.
