COLUMBUS, Ohio—Columbus Blue Jackets rookie forward Nikita Filatov will get a taste of a stretch run.

The Blue Jackets, in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race, recalled Filatov on Wednesday from the club’s AHL affiliate in Syracuse.

The 18-year-old, the No. 6 pick in last summer’s draft, has four goals in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season. He became the first Blue Jackets rookie to score a hat trick when he had three goals against Minnesota on Jan. 10.

He also became only the fourth Columbus player to score a goal in his NHL debut against Nashville on Oct. 17. Filatov has 16 goals and 16 assists in 39 games with Syracuse.
