1. Beauty and the Beasts
CAPA presents Shelley Garrett’s Beauty Shop 2009 at 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Palace Theatre, 34 W. Broad St. America’s most successful African-American musical play returns with even more gossip, drama, backstabbing and humor. Visit www.capa.com.
2. The Magic Flute
ProMusica Chamber Orchestra presents Sixth Symphony Nov. 14 and 15 at the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St., featuring Katherine DeJongh (flute) performing center stage. Pieces include Rodney Rogers’ Iridescent Prairies (World Premiere), Pablo Casals’ Songs of the Birds, Eric Whitacre’s Water Music arranged for strings, Vivaldi's Concerto for flute in D major, The Goldfinch, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major, Pastoral Symphony. 3. Bailamos!
The 7th Semi-Annual Columbus Salsa Fest is Nov. 13-15 at various locations throughout Columbus. This is the largest Latin dance event in Ohio, featuring four days of workshops, performances, live entertainment, guest disc jockeys, cultural exhibits and more. 4. A Toy-ous Occasion.
COSI, 333 W. Broad St., presents the Joy of Toys beginning Nov. 17 and continuing through Dec. 19. It includes special toy-themed events, toy-making workshops, a holiday gadgets light show, cookie creation workshops, character appearances and more. Visit www.cosi.org.
5. Birthday Party.
A Celebration of the Southern Theatre takes place at 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at the venue, 21 E. Main St. This event, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the theatre’s restoration, features a viewing of the original documentary film, The Great Southern Theatre, Revival of a Legend.
