Severe Weather Radios

NBC4 is partnering with Kroger to offer two types of NOAA All Hazards Weather Alert Radio models. The WR-100 model is available for $29.99 plus tax. The HH54VP handheld model is available for $34.99 plus tax. 

NOAA Weather Alert radios are an important tool for providing advanced warning of severe weather and emergency situations. The weather radio is the official voice of the National Weather Service (NWS) and broadcasts information on severe weather through a nationwide network of weather radio transmitters.

The HH54VP model is powered by batteries and the WR-100 radio runs on both electricity and batteries.  Keeping batteries in the radio will allow it to work in the event of a loss of power.  Both radios can be programmed specifically for one or more counties.  The HH54VP model also features a travel mode.  In travel mode, the radio scans for the nearest NOAA Weather Radio (or Environment Canada) transmitter and locks onto the channel.
