[dateline] -- It's official, Columbus City Schools will ask taxpayers for more money this November.
The district is asking for a 7.85 mill operating levy. It would cost homeowners of a $100,000 home an additional $240 a year, NBC 4 reported.
The district is also asking for the renewal of a capital improvements bond. This wouldn't be a new tax for residents. The homeowner of a $100,000 home would continue to pay $120 a year.
Some voters said no matter the cost they'll vote yes, but others said tough economic times will have them voting no.
Superintendent Dr. Gene Harris said the economic and social success of the community depends on the success of students.
The last time the district asked for an operating levy was back in 2004. It was 6.95 mills and did pass.
