[dateline] -- Central Ohio women remain on edge as investigators continue to search for the serial rapist.
The man has raped or attacked seven women on Columbus' north or west side, striking usually women who are alone sleeping or laying in their beds.
Police announced Wednesday that they have eliminated 10 to 15 potential suspects from the list of 75 people they're investigating, NBC 4's Mikaela Hunt reported.
Investigators said they feel very strongly that someone recognizes the hazy ATM photos of the suspect and that person may have even already called in a tip.
Police are working through the nearly 300 tips and sharing information with a special unit of Franklin County prosecutors.
Victims have their questionnaires and police are hoping that as they fill out the questions, they will reveal more information about the rapist.
Hunt asked authorities if the rapist could be a seasonal or migrant worker, given that the last attack linked was at the beginning of November.
Sgt. David Pelphrey said research shows that type of person is a strong suspect in a case like the serial rapist.
"That does come up when we're brainstorming. What major construction projects have there been that have ceased since then," Pelphrey said.
Credit cards have been taken from some of the victims. Investigators said they are not willing to share information whether the rapist has taken other items or evidence from crime scenes.
