City Official: Drivers Going Too Fast, Following Too Close

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CENTRAL OHIO -- Roads have been extremely tricky in many spots in and around Columbus Saturday.

NBC 4's Matt Alvarez reported with the FAST FACTS.

Police are receiving accident reports on every major artery, including Interstate 70 I-270 and state Route 315.

There have been chain-reaction accidents on High Street and Henderson Road.

Mary Carren Webster, with the city of Columbus, blamed these accidents on motorists.

Webster said drivers are, "just going too fast and following too close. We had crews out laying brine yesterday."

But drivers have a different opinion.

"I haven't seen one truck out here yet," one resident driver said.

Webster said 45 crews would be on the roadway by 6 p.m. ODOT has 35 crews taking care of the highways.

CLOSINGS
