[dateline] -- School leaders believed the passage of the Columbus City School levy and bond package in November was a mandate by voters to be progressive in their future planning.
Part of that plan begins with community informational meetings, the first of which was scheduled for Monday evening, NBC 4's Mikaela Hunt reported.
Before votes were tallied from the General Election, many had mixed feelings about the district's direction.
"I just haven't been happy. I think they need to get a dollar value we send down there," said Larry Beverly, an area resident.
"In the long run, you'll get rid of all the complaints. We don't have books. We don't have computers," said Melissa Fragale, an area resident.
But voters approved the measure and with more money comes the opportunity for more teachers, buses and technology.
Those options will be part of the district's community informational meetings.
The remaining meetings will be held at the following locations:
Wednesday, Dec. 10 - St. Stevens Community Center, 1500 East 17th Ave. - 5 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 15 - Berwick K-6 Alternative, 2655 Scottwood Rd. - 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 17 - Oakland Park Elementary School - 3392 Atwood Terrace - 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 14 - Avondale Elementary School - 156 Avondale Ave. - 6 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 15 - Clinton Elementary School - 10 Clinton Heights Ave. - 6 p.m.
The district is encouraging parents and guardians to attend the meetings, but also residents and business owners in school neighborhoods.
