BELOW IS A MAP OF ALL BANK ROBBERIES IN THE CENTRAL OHIO IN 2008:
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The FBI tells NBC 4 that a robber they have called “Two-Hat Robber” may have made his fourth Columbus hold-up with a strike at a Huntington Bank on Georgesville Road on Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 1:54 pm, a man entered the Huntington Bank, 121 Georgesville Road, Columbus, and was observed writing on a deposit slip at a counter just inside the lobby. Then after waiting in line, the man approached a teller where he showed her a note written on a bank deposit slip which stated that he was robbing the bank and had a gun. Although no weapon was observed, the teller complied and gave the robber money from her drawer. Once the robber had the money, he turned and exited the bank. Witnesses saw a blue-colored Chevrolet Corsica take off quickly from a nearby shopping area, but law enforcement isn’t sure if that was the get-away vehicle. The robber was described as a white male, approximately 40’s-50’s of age, 5’9”, medium build, unshaven with grey stubble, wearing a hood-type hat over a dark toboggan, grey t-shirt over a long-sleeve black shirt or jacket, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.
A person with the same general appearance and same method of operation is a suspect in three earlier bank robberies---once near campus and twice in the Short North area.
Anyone with any information is requested to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 614-462-3351 or the FBI at 614-744-2168. There is a reward leading to the identification and arrest of this robber.
This is the 70th bank robbery in Columbus in 2008. There were 72 in all of 2007.
