COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Local investigators need the public's help in finding a serial robber.
Law enforcement said the suspect in the robberies enters local convenience stores, acting like a paying customer, only to overpower employees and steal the store's cash, NBC 4's Mike Jackson reported.
The robber has committed the crime several times, and authorities said the hold-ups are caught on tape.
The suspect was first seen at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the United Dairy Farmers on West Broad Street.
After wandering around the store, he approached the counter as if he wanted to pay for a small purchase. As soon as the clerk opened the cash register, the man reached over the counter, grabbed cash and fled.
The man never showed a weapon, but rather used his 6-foot-5-inch, 250-pound frame.
"Simply, his size is intimidating enough to at least cause the clerks to be hesitant enough to react in any way," said Columbus police Detective Gerald Milner.
More than an hour later, the man committed the same crime at a United Dairy Farmers on South Hague Avenue.
Then, last week, he made a return robbery at the UDF on West Broad Street.
Never showing a weapon in any of the incidents, police said the man bullies his way to the cash drawer.
"We just need the community to help put an end to this," Milner said.
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for tips that lead to the man's arrest and/or conviction. All callers can remain anonymous.
Anyone with information is asked to call 614-645-TIPS.
