What To Ask If You're In An Accident

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- If the Ohio State Highway Patrol responds the scene you’ll get a crash report number. But it takes at least seven days for the report to hit the web.

If you can't wait that long and if the information isn't available at the scene, the State Highway Patrol says make sure to get the name of your trooper so you can follow up with the patrol post. They may be able to relay the information you need faster. But be patient, it could take a few business days.

Lt. Tony Bradshaw of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says, "Troopers or officers might have to do some follow up. If they have to make sure someone has proper insurance. Or if they have the report but can't get back to the post until a later time.”

Lieutenant Bradshaw says if the roads are dangerous don't risk your life trying to get information from other drivers. Wait for law enforcement.
