ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- A woman remained hospitalized Monday after her Marine husband allegedly attacked her with a hammer.

The accused husband was jailed and charged with attempted murder.
Jonathan and Erin Gould met at a Whitehall school and were married in December 2006.
Law enforcement officials in Onslow County, N.C., near where Matt was stationed at Camp LeJeune, said Jonathan called authorities Saturday morning.
He told them intruders burst in on him and his pregnant wife and when he regained consciousness, she was seriously injured.
Deputies said Jonathan's story didn't match up. He later allegedly confessed to attacking his wife, using a hammer to inflict three serious wounds to her head.
Erin's friends said she was in stable condition at a Wilmington, N.C., hospital.
Jonathan remained jailed Monday and was scheduled to appear in court Monday at 10 a.m.
