COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Central Ohioans should expect sun and clouds, early morning wind chills in the way of -15 to -20 degrees and an afternoon high of 15 degrees Monday.

Wind chill warnings and advisories are in effect for the NBC 4 viewing area.

Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Marshall McPeek is calling for sun and clouds, early morning wind chills in the way of -15 to -20 degrees and an afternoon wind chill of 15 degrees Monday. The afternoon high will be 15 degrees with a wind chill around 0 degrees.

Partly cloudy skies are in tonight's forecast with a frigid overnight low near 9 degrees. It won't be as windy tonight.

Wind chill warnings and advisories are in effect for the entire NBC 4 viewing area this morning because the chills are between -15 and -20. Frostbite happens quickly at those temps. So, if you have to go outside, make sure you’re protected. High pressure is in our neck of the woods, and it’s giving us some sunshine. The arctic air mass that settled in overnight is here to stay for the day. Afternoon temps will only be in the teens. The wind chills will be around 0. We’ll still be in the single digits tonight but not quite as windy. Chills will be near 0 again.

On Tuesday, as the high moves eastward, our winds will shift and bring in some warmer air from the south. That will make tomorrow a little milder than today. As a low-pressure center approaches from the west, it will push some rain, rain/snow mix and freezing rain ahead of it. It’ll start late Tuesday night and continue during the day on Wednesday as the low passes right through Ohio.

As the temperatures fall Wednesday night, some of the rain may change to rain/snow mix and some snow showers. Not looking for any significant accumulations, but you may find a few, small patches of white early Christmas Day. It’ll melt quickly, though, as the temperatures warm up into the low 40s.
