COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An overnight double shooting sent a child and an adult to area hospitals.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Columbus police were called to the Waffle House at 2621 Brice Rd. on a report of a shooting.
At the scene, authorities found a 13-year-old and an adult in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.
Police said the two had finished eating and were leaving the restaurant around 1:30 a.m. Friday when they were struck by stray bullets, reported NBC 4’s Mikaela Hunt.
The victims did not see the shooters because they were some distance away and were not able to give a description to police.
Initial reports revealed the shots likely came from the Tussing Road and Brice Road intersection, which is more than 100 yards from the Waffle House.
Police found bullet casings near the BP gas station at that intersection.
One witness told police they saw two black males jump into a car and drive off following the gunshots.
The child was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition. The adult was transported to Grant Medical Center in serious condition.
Detectives did not believe the victims were the intended targets in this shooting and they continued to investigate the incident.
