WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio -- West Jefferson Police and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office are working together to find what they believe are multiple suspects who have been passing counterfeit $5, $10, and $20 bills. Investigators say counterfeit bills are popping up in Madison County. Investigators say the fake bills have turned up at the Circle K store, the Marathon Gas Station, and the VFW in West Jefferson and the Pilot gas station off Interstate 70 in Madison County.
Authorities have released surveillance photos from the Circle K on December 11, showing a man entering the store before purchasing ice and milk with a counterfeit $5 bill. The suspect was believed to be driving a white Oldsmobile Intrigue. Because the purchases are perishable items such as milk and ice, police believe that the suspects are local.
If you have any information about the counterfeit money, you are asked to contact the West Jefferson Police Department or the Madison County Sheriff’s office.
