NEW ALBANY, Ohio -- In New Albany and the northwestern part of Licking County, authorities are dealing with six burglaries in two days, all with similar circumstances.
The New Albany police department said it became aware of the problem after one of its own officers became a victim.
Thieves broke into an officer’s home Dec. 19 and stole a 400-pound safe full of guns and his duty uniforms.
Around the same time, five other homes were broken into in northwest Licking County.
NBC 4’s Lauren Diedrich spoke with New Albany PD Wednesday. The department is concerned a uniform is out there on the streets.
If you question the identity of an officer, citizens can say they need to call the officer's agency. That's even if the officer shows an ID. NAPD said an officer wouldn't object a call to his agency.
The department said as many as four men were suspected of committing the crimes.
Apparently, the suspects break into houses in the middle of the day, right around lunchtime.
If you see anything suspicious, call NAPD at 614-855-1234.
