PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh police say an 86-year-old woman was kidnapped to Ohio by her sister, the sister's boyfriend and another man.
Police say the three claimed they were removing Evelyn Poynter from her squalid apartment. According to investigators, Poynter was bound with duct tape and driven Sunday to the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, where the sister lives.
Police admit Poynter's Pittsburgh apartment was deplorable. But they say her 72-year-old sister, Laura Stewart, refused orders to bring Poynter home when they spoke with Stewart by phone after receiving a tip.
Shaker Heights police made the arrests early Monday morning. Stewart and the other two are charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Poynter is now back home.
