Parents Voice Concerns At Second CCS Public Meeting

»  Comments | Post a Comment

[dateline] -- Parents and homeowners voiced their concerns about the Columbus City School District Monday night.

Some residents wanted an increase of police presence in schools, while others said "No" to a possible levy on the November ballot, NBC 4 reported.

The meeting was one of four held by Superintendent Dr. Gene Harris and her administration.

The meeting began with an update on school construction projects, the district's increased graduation rate and the need for strengthening family and school relationships.

The floor was then open to the public. One parent voiced her concerns about school violence.

Dr. Harris responded by saying school violence is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Two other meetings are scheduled -- Monday, Feb. 11 at Wedgewood Middle School and Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Marion Franklin High School.

Both meetings begin at 6 p.m.
