NEWARK, Ohio -- A Newark man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to rape a 94-year-old woman.
Police say 49-year-old Fred C. Hottinger broke into the woman's home on November 16th and asked to use the phone because he had car trouble.

The elderly victim told WBNS yesterday that Hottinger put his hand over her mouth and threw her against the wall. She says they engaged in a struggle, causing a deep gash on her hand that required 26 stitches.
Hottinger, who has been in and out of prison most of his adult life, pleaded guilty to attempted rape, gross sexual imposition and other charges.
He was classified as a Tier 3 sexual offender at yesterday's hearing, which means he must register his address with authorities every 90 days for the rest of his life.
