MARYSVILLE, Ohio -- Twenty-five years after a local sheriff is murdered while on duty, his convicted killer is up for parole.
Now a community is rallying to keep his murdered behind bars.
Larry Schneider remembers the day his friend Union County Sheriff Harry Wolfe was killed in the line of duty.
Wolfe had responded to a silent burglary alarm on Jan. 21, 1982. Deputies listened in horror to the sound of gunfire.
Decades later, the pain resurfaces as Stanley Penn, the convicted killer, is eligible for parole. He has served nearly 25 years behind bars.
Schneider and others have written dozens of letters, opposing Penn's release.
