COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A suspected organized burglary ring hitting several homes was broken up by law enforcement on Friday.

Police said an organized residential burglary ring is responsible for numerous burglaries throughout the region, NBC 4's Matt Alvarez reported.

Agencies including Columbus and Hilliard police, along with Franklin and Delaware count sheriff's offices rounded up those who are suspected in the crimes.

Sgt. Weiner with Columbus Division of Police said that Friday's efforts netted three arrests -- with more to come.

Within the investigation is the Dec. 20 burglary of a home in Hilliard, where a burglar escaped with more than $1 million in cash, collector's coins, guns and jewelry.

Officials raided seven locations on the city's west side, removing a pitbull and boxer from one of the homes. Detectives also confiscated personal property and merchandise during the sting.
