COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Investigators still are trying to figure out why a man ran out on a busy highway last night.
Interstate 270 North on the city's southwest side was closed for more than four hours Wednesday night after Joseph D. Hutchinson, 45, was hit and killed on the highway, NBC 4 reported.
Hutchinson of Columbus ran onto I-270's northbound lanes and was struck by at least three vehicles as he began crossing lanes of traffic, according to police reports.
Police said Hutchinson was involved in two other crashes directly prior to the deadly crash.
Traffic was backed up for miles south of Georgesville Road as investigators gathered evidence.
Authorities don't know if alcohol was a factor, and the incident remains under investigation, NBC 4 reported.
