CENTRAL OHIO -- Several police agencies said together they have busted the biggest robbery ring to terrorize Central Ohio.
After a dozen bank robberies and dozens more armed business robberies, some of the most dangerous suspects are now off the streets, but police said the case isn't over yet.
The suspected ringleader, though incarcerated on an unrelated charge, has yet to be brought to justice for allegedly planning and helping execute the robberies, NBC 4's Erin Tate reported.
Tisa Young and Courtney Gray admitted their involvement Friday morning. Trebia Walker pleaded guilty Thursday. Each face between eight and 16 years behind bars as alleged scouts, getaway drivers and make-up artists in what Columbus Police and the ATF are calling Central Ohio's largest armed-robbery ring, Tate reported.
The ring involves more than a dozen suspects often in disguises, such as fake beards and sideburns, and more than 50 bank and business robberies in Franklin, Fairfield, Richland and Clark counties dating back to June 2006, according to police.
David K. Williams was arrested during an initial investigation of this ring in June 2006 has been sentenced to 23 years, Tate reported.
Other suspects are expected to face additional charges, but area banks, businesses and citizens can rest easier now, according to police.
