COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An early morning fire claimed the lives of two family pets after a home went up in flames, NBC 4 reported.
The fire started just before 2 a.m. Saturday at 528 Porter St. on the city's west side. The fire apparently started in the kitchen, according to reports.
The couple inside was able to make it out OK, but two dogs were killed in the fire.
Another house fire on the city's far-east side started in the garage and spread through the home's downstairs area. Two people were able to escape.
Arson investigators were called to the scene at Quimby Avenue and still are determining a cause. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
